Singapore Company StoryChopsticks launches Zongzi, the world’s first series of Chinese stories entirely written and drawn by young children

Singapore, Singapore – 28 Jun 2021  –  Singapore company StoryChopsticks launches the world’s first series of illustrated Chinese children books entirely developed by young children.

As a culmination of their learning, young Chinese language learners work on their very own Chinese stories with guidance from their facilitators, and in the process experience the joy and pain of the creative publishing process. StoryChopsticks’ Zongzi (粽子) Book #1 – Childhood Rhapsody is the first such collection with stories and illustrations from young Chinese language learners in Singapore and the United States.

“Children are naturally creative and learn best when they are deeply engaged. We designed the process so that young learners can immediately see, touch, and even promote the fruits of their learning,” said Chuang Wan Ting, co-founder and Head of Instruction of StoryChopsticks.

“Our unique learning method starts from our proprietary stories, flashcards, and weekly practice of story creation. Advanced learners like our young authors today then develop their own stories through our KidsPublish programme,” said Zixuan, Editor of StoryChopsticks Zongzi series of illustrated books.

“My son never uses Chinese proactively. Ever since he started to create his own stories in Chinese, he is now curious on what everyday life objects and emotions are in Chinese” said Jenny, mother of youth author Theo.

StoryChopsticks will be announcing another three candidates for the followup book Zongzi #2, at a zoom launch event on 27 June (Sunday) at 11am GMT+8.
